Today featured several milestones for the start of ’23 Campaign for Airbus Perlan Mission II. We began the frigid morning with a customs inspection of the container, which we passed with “flying colors.” The customs seal was encased in ice from the 2,000 mile winter road trip. Jorge Caliri was team lead on this one.
After we could unload the trailer from the container it was easy to unload all the shelves into the Aero Club Lago Argentino’s hangar. With almost the full team working it didn’t take that long.
After lunch Arne landed the Egrett after almost 6 hours of flying from Mendoza. He found the mid level wave was working!
As we are expecting inclement weather we all helped put the wing covers on the mighty Egrett.
Before dinner time Tim and Miguel drove into El Calafate after several days on the roads. On Monday they stopped in Comodoro to brief EANA on Perlan operations. (More info later.) Which vehicle do you think drove most of the day in 4-wheel drive?
Tomorrow will be hangar organization and LOTS of ground testing. When all the systems are green then we will put the wings on the Perlan 2.
