Loris Gliner was part of the Perlan team in El Calafate during the 2017, 2018 and 2019 campaigns. He developed the Perlan Virtual Cockpit, a website that displays the Perlan 2 glider’s position and telemetry data. Loris is currently working at Joby Aviation, focusing on the development and flight testing of novel hydrogen propulsion systems for aviation. Prior to joining Joby, Loris was at Universal Hydrogen where he led the team that converted and flew a Dash 8-300 with a MW scale hydrogen propulsion system – the world’s largest hydrogen powered aircraft to date. Before Universal Hydrogen, Loris worked at Airbus UpNext where he researched autonomous taxi, take-off, and landing technologies for large commercial aircraft as part of the Airbus ATTOL A350 demonstrator. Loris has a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Imperial College London and is a licensed pilot.
