In 2015 Keith Kongslie retired from Rockwell Collins as a Senior Systems Engineer, after years of research in display systems including head-up for commercial aircraft, and head-down and helmet displays for military aircraft. Development of hermetically sealed external cameras, for refueling aircraft, were particularly relevant for hatch sealing methods on the Perlan II.
Previous years of developmental engineering for electron beam, CRT and liquid crystal projection displays were enjoyed at PerkinElmer, Tektronix, Planar Systems, and Clarity Visual Systems. Keith was educated in research methods at the Institute of Molecular Biology, University of Oregon.
Not a pilot, Keith was fascinated by the concept, audacity, and engineering of an extreme altitude glider aircraft. Hatch sealing ideas and experiments were implemented for the early record flights. Keith was proud to be part of a talented and well formed team that achieved greatness.
