Sudden Stratospheric Warming Data Analysis
A rare Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) event occurred and was documented during the 2019 Airbus Perlan Mission II flight campaign. The sudden warming in the stratosphere was a precursor to an early and severe fire season in Australia
Perlan is supporting a PhD student who is analyzing this phenomenon. Their research includes developing an understanding of stratospheric gravity wave sources and the effect of a rarely observed southern hemisphere sudden stratospheric warming event on wave propagation. Funding this research will allow the Ph.D. candidate to complete their work, attend and present their results at a science conference, and publishing a white paper. The donor to this research will be acknowledged in the published research paper
Complete the research and publish the findings: $52,000
